Doggy Dreams
"Lizzy, do you remember your first dog?" My aunt asked me while deciding whether to get her daughter a dog or not. "Oh, you mean Sparky?" I asked my aunt while helping her clean the dishes. "Yea, that one." Then my mind suddenly went back to my five year old self with missing front teeth and pigtails in my hair.
"Mommy, look! Mommy!" I said pointing to the dog inside the shelter. "Look how cute he is! I just want to pet him!" I said pigtails bouncing. "Well," My mom said. "Why don't you go introduce yourself?" she asked me. "Okay!" I said running over to go see him. He had golden fur with big brown eyes that melt your heart. He was small, about the size of my moms hand. "Hey boy," I said to the dog. "How are you?" I asked him. He put his paws over his eyes. "Aww, are you shy?" I asked him in my squeaky voice. He squealed. "Mommy! Can we keep him?" I asked her with my puppy dog eyes and my lip curled. "Oh, how could I say no to that face?" she said and called over a worker. "We would like to buy that dog," she told him pointing to the dog beside me.
When we got in the car I got to hold the dog. "What are you going to name him?" she asked me smiling. "Sparky!" I said with a big grin showing my missing teeth. "I love that name!" my mom said petting Sparky. "You're a good boy! Yes you are! Yes you are!" I said to him the whole car ride home.
"I remember Sparky," I said to my aunt. "He was the best dog ever!" I said to her with a smile. "Do you think that Ava could handle a dog?" she asked me. Ava was her daughter, my cousin. She was seven years old and she was the sweetest. "Absolutely," said I said to my Aunt.
Ava ended up getting a dog. She named him Buttercup. He one of the cutest dogs ever. "Do you think getting Ava a dog was the right choice?" I asked her. "Absolutely," she said looking at Ava play with Buttercup. I smiled. "She seems really happy," I told her. "She does, doesn't she?" she said smiling.
